I am not sure about you but I have enjoyed the Circuit Breaker (or Lockdown as the case may be in many countries)! For me this was?God’s gift of?selah?time!
In what way?has this been?selah time? I believe that God deliberately caused me to?pause and slow down?these past months. I was rushing from one day to the other, from one project to the next, preparing one sermon and going to the next, completing one semester and thinking of the new semester….God taught me afresh to be quiet, to sit at his feet, to learn from him, and to listen to his still small voice!
I listened to God through audio and video sermons/messages, hearing the audio Bible, reading the scriptures, and meditating on God’s Word hungrily – all the things I didn’t do for such a long time but now l had the time, and also because I made the time! Like the psalmist travelling up to Jerusalem, I too recognized how lovely is {his} dwelling place and how my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God!
I want to share?three blessings?from Psalm 84 that I have learnt afresh recently:
First, the one who trusts in the Lord is to be blest?(verse 12)! The pilgrim has put his trust in the Lord and his God shields him from all harm and danger. God also bestow his favor and honor upon the pilgrim and chooses not to withhold any good thing from him (verse 11)!
Second, the pilgrim is blest because he finds his strength in his God!?He faces many challenges and hardships, yet in the midst of his fears and tears, he finds refreshment and strength in his God (verses 5-7)!
Third, the pilgrim is blest because he worships his God all the time.?Even the most insignificant bird, the sparrow, or the most restless bird, the swallow, have found resting places, so the pilgrim finds his rest in the house of God! I, like these birds, know that my rest is in the house of the Lord, and that even if I were the door keeper of his house, that in itself is all sufficient, because I am always in his house, the first to open the door, and the last to close it! As I worship my God, I am renewed and refreshed in my inner being.
Let us continue to trust this amazing God, the Lord of hosts, all the days of our life; may we experience daily his strength made perfect in our weak body; and may we?long?for the courts of the Lord always!
How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD;
My heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.
