Blessings for Our Graduands

Remember that our being as God’s children must always be what empowers our doing as God’s servants. When Jesus’ disciples became overly ecstatic about their effectiveness in ministry, he redirected them to rejoice even more in their salvation (Luke 10:20). Serve God’s people faithfully, by all means, but never forget that we are his, first and foremost!

A big congratulations to all graduates! Your presence here is a testament to your prayers, hard work and perseverance. As you enter a new chapter of your professional career, may the good Lord bless you with continuing clarity of direction and guidance in making decisions. Please do not forget to take good care of yourself and those you dearly love.

The SCM faculty has seen God’s hand of blessing upon you throughout your years of SCM study. We are so proud of all of you and cannot wait to see how God will continue to do his good work in you and through you. As the Lord leads you to his chosen place of ministry for you, the words of Psalm 67 are our prayer for you.

May the community life we have spent together become your fond memories of SBC. May it also clothe you with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience in order for you to be a faithful servant of God (Col 3:12). Congratulations on your graduation.

With COVID-19, I’m sure this is not how you expected nor wanted to remember your last semester at SBC. Yet each of you has persevered and graduated! Just as you faced this unexpected challenge, may the Lord be your refuge and strong fortress, and God’s grace sustain you to be good and faithful servants throughout all your years of ministry.

To my DMin grads, some say you have now reached your “terminal degree”. But that sounds more like a funeral than a commencement, right? Instead, may this final degree you earn launch you into greater avenues of learning and service for Jesus in the years ahead.

Do your very best to handle the word of truth accurately and unashamedly, so as to present yourself to our Lord as a good, faithful, and sensible servant, one who is approved by him.
