Having postponed Counselling Week 2020 due to Covid-19, the School of Counselling (SOC) invites you to attend our lectures online for FREE from 22-26 Feb at Singapore Bible College. The Faculty and some friends of SOC will be giving lectures and sharing their insights on current issues, counselling concepts, approaches and skills. This is our way of celebrating the Lord’s faithfulness and reaching out to the wider community of churches and seminaries in Asia.

Is There No Answer to the Sexual Revolution?
The Sexual Revolution in the 1960s ushered widespread changes in attitudes and behaviour toward pre-marital sex, cohabitation, abortion, pornography, homosexuality and a host of other matters pertaining to sexuality. How can the Church respond to these with respect to re-articulating the biblical view of sex as truly “Good News” and in ‘bringing every thought captive to Christ’ as we challenge the powerful in-roads of ‘expressive individualism’? Joseph John will explore this question as he draws from years of counselling individuals struggling with gender issues and grappled with the current challenges on sexuality.

Understanding a Hidden Minority: Third Culture Kids (TCK) and Adults
This session will focus on introducing a highly mobile and cross-cultural population who are also known as the ‘Citizens of everywhere and nowhere’. Videos and stories of TCKs will be shared to explain their characteristic challenges and gifts, including their issues of hidden losses and disenfranchised grief, trauma from multiple relocations, and struggles as hidden immigrants.
