Rev. Dr. Clement Chia preached at the Sunday service of 14 local and two Malaysian churches. He conducted two seminars: “Christiconic Preaching” for St. Andrew’s Cathedral (Mandarin) and “The Future of Faith” for Singapore Life Church. He was interviewed on the CCCOWE podcast about “Facing Church Scandals”. He also published a book in Chinese entitled Love the Church to the End? Theological Reflections on Church Scandals, which is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of SBC. ?
Mdm. Teng Chuo Leng, beloved mother of Rev. Dr. Albert Ting, the sixth Principal of SBC, went home to be with the Lord on 8 Sep 2021 at age 84.
Mr. Willie Chan Kwang Cheng, beloved father of SBC Board member and alumnus Rev. Edmund Chan, went home to be with the Lord on 12 Aug 2021 at age 94.
Rev. Dr. Jerry Hwang published two articles: “The Book of Jeremiah as Case Study in Asian Contextual Theology” in Asia Journal of Theology 35 (2021): 25–37; “Are Yahweh and El/Allah the Same God? The OT’s Contextualization of Monotheism” in Trinity Journal 42 (2021): 59–78.
Dr. Calvin Chong conducted a workshop on “Digital Engagement in Online Spaces” for Foochow Methodist Church. He was also a workshop speaker on “Flourishing and Digital Technology” at the 2021 Micah Global Consultation, which was on the theme of Kushamiri (Kiswahili for “flourish”).
Dr. Peter Ho published a review of The Seed of Promise: The Sufferings and Glory of the Messiah; Essays in Honor of T. Desmond Alexander edited by Paul Williamson and Rita Cefalu in Themelios 46.2 (2021): 425–26.?
Rev. Dr. Samuel Law was invited to write a review of Advanced Missiology: How to Study Missions in Credible and Useful Ways by Kenneth Nehrbass for Global Missiology 18.3 (2021): http://ojs.globalmissiology.org/index.php/english/article/view/2509. He also spoke on “The Lord’s Prayer as Discipleship” in the Spiritual Revival series of Singapore Baptist Church.

Mr. Eudenice Palaruan gave a talk on “Composing for Organ” for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra VCH organ series, and on “Choral Singing and Eudaemonia” for the Philippine Choral Directors Association workshop series. His composition entitled “HOPE”, which is based on Isaiah 40:31, was premiered by the Singapore Symphony Chorus.?
Dr. Virginia Tsai composed the text and music of two works for the “Light Beyond Shadow” online song service: “Do Not Fear,? Don’t Be Afraid” and new stanzas for “With Christ in My Vessel”.?
Dr. Myrleene Yap and Dr. Virginia Tsai led Mount Carmel Bible-Presbyterian Church’s Rhoda Fellowship (a ministry to domestic helpers from Indonesia, Myanmar, and the Philippines) in an interactive musical worship service. ?
Dr. Linda Bubod spoke on “Self-care and Grief Management” at the online conference of Youth With A Mission (YWAM; Northern Philippines chapter).?
Dr. Bubod and Mrs. Penny Quek? represented SBC at the ACCA (Asian Christian Counselling Association) 4th Asian Christian Counselling Virtual Conference. ?
Mrs. Quek also led a team in conducting a four-day training workshop on lay counselling for church and cell-group leaders at Emmaus Evangelical Free Church.

To more effectively serve the church in Asian contexts, the School of Church Music is offering the Master of Ministry in Music and Worship Leadership (MMin MWL) from July 2022. This three-year programme of 45 credit hours is designed to train and mentor the experienced worship or ministry leader, and sharpen his or her effectiveness as a shepherd and leader of God’s church. There are three concentrations to choose from:

Graduates from other versions of our MMin programme have testified to its effectiveness and how God shaped them through it to be more effective and impactful for servant leadership. The MMin MWL builds on the programme’s fruitfulness with the following strengths:
