Master of Arts in Biblical Studies

The goal of the teacher is to reveal Jesus in his fullness to the Church, the way to God, the truth to believe and know, the source of life now and for eternity.

The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) is designed primarily for those who anticipate a teaching ministry in the Bible but are not led toward ordination or the pastorate.?

Rigorous preparation in biblical languages, extensive training in exegesis, and understanding the essential doctrines of the church prepare the student to succeed in the calling to teach, preach, and serve the church through research in biblical studies. Students enrolled in this programme can choose to focus on either biblical Greek or Hebrew in their exegesis courses.

It is a two-year, full-time (or a maximum of five years, part-time) programme, which can serve as a stepping stone toward a PhD at many institutions.?

Learning onsite within the SBC community is most effective and fruitful. However, it is now possible to choose to complete the first year of the MABS curriculum online, whether part-time/full-time.

All students in this programme must complete the second year of the curriculum onsite. International students studying onsite are required to study full-time. Full-time students with financial needs may apply for a scholarship.

Those who opt to do this may also apply to the Immersion Experience, where they can stay onsite at SBC for 1–2 weeks at the start of the semester and get to know their classmates and faculty in person.
