Rev. Dr. Clement Chia preached in 15 churches and conducted a leadership training seminar at Holy Light Presbyterian Church, Johor Bahru. He attended the OMF Theological Educators Consultation and ATA Triennial Conference in Penang.

Mrs. Yap Su Choong Ting was called home to be with the Lord on 25 July 2022 at the age of 97. Born in 1925, the late Mrs. Yap was the mother-in-law of our retired faculty Rev. Dr. Chan Fong. In 1988, she married our late Principal, Rev. Yap Un Han, who was called home in 1995. She served the Lord faithfully as a nursing staff until her retirement and as a Sunday school teacher at Grace (Singapore Chinese Christian) Church into her 90s.

We warmly welcome Ms. Sally Liu I Hsuan as our School of Counselling (Chinese Section) full-time faculty member from August 2022. Ms. Liu graduated from Singapore Bible College with a Master of Arts in Counselling.

Dr. Eudenice Vicente Palaruan, Associate Professor from the School of Church Music, was conferred a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conduction by St. Paul University Manila’s College of Music and the Performing Arts on 29 July 2022.

Rev. Dr. Jerry Hwang published Jeremiah in vol. 6 of the ESV Expository Commentary (Crossway) and Contextualization and the Old Testament: Between Asian and Western Perspectives (Asia Theological Association/Langham Literature). He also had an article accepted for publication in Biblical Interpretation: A Journal of Contemporary Approaches entitled, “Who Is the Real Model Minority? An Asian American Reading of Ruth and Ebed-Melech in the Hebrew Bible” and available at https://www.doi.org/10.1163/15685152-20221683.

Rev. Dr. Samuel Law was the Mission Conference speaker for Logos Christian Church, spoke on “Thinking Theologically in Context” at the Lausanne Movement’s Asia 2022 Congress in Bangkok, and published Missions in Southeast Asia: Unity and Diversity in God’s Mission (Cambridge: ATA-Langham), co-edited with Dr. Kwa Kiem Kiok.

The SCM faculty served as speakers and facilitators in the SBC Selah Webinar Series (Indonesia). They also produced “All Things New: A Hymn Festival”, performed at SBC by the Canticorum under the guest conductor, Dr. Joel Navarro.
