Art is a window and a mirror: a window into cultural worldviews and a mirror reflecting humanity’s search. This lecture attempts to analyse the evolution of western worldviews as expressed through major art movements from antiquity to post-modernism and explore the cultural shifts across the ages that transforms western civilisation from a pre- to post-Christian era as reflected in its art. Throughout this journey, we will explore the role that the arts play in humanity’s quest for truth, goodness, and beauty and its implication for the church.
