Over 72 years, the buildings and open spaces that make up the campus of Singapore Bible College have been home to generations of leaders, faculty, staff, students, and alumni now serving in various parts of the world. They stand as beacons of the faith, hope, and community that form the foundations of theological education.
With the passage of time, however, most of these buildings and spaces need essential upgrades and repairs, apart from their regular maintenance. Examples include installing air-conditioners for the men’s dormitories in Block 3 in view of the escalating local temperatures, putting sealant to prevent water seepage, treating moulding on walls, conducting a health and safety check of our 40-year-old electrical system, and replacing an obsolete generator to supply back-up electricity in the event of power failure.
Our buildings are beautiful because of the stories of devotion and faith they have witnessed over the years. Yet, without funding for their proper upkeep, these cherished places are at real risk of falling into disrepair. This threatens our ability to operate a safe and habitable living environment, and thus answer our calling to equip students to serve in the kingdom of God and minister to God’s sheep. As stewards of God-given property, just as we care for spiritual growth, we must also care for the physical spaces that support the faith journey (1 Cor 3:9 NIV).
The cost of upkeep can be overwhelming. But as a united body in Christ, we can ensure that these buildings and spaces remain standing as beacons of faith for future generations. Your generous and continued donation to our “Property, Plant and Equipment Fund”, no matter the amount, will contribute to the proper upkeep of our campus, allowing it to continue serving as a collective place for worship, prayer, teaching, study, community living, and outreach. Your donation will be an investment in the faith of generations and a response to God’s call for theological education to nurture the well-being of countless souls.
Annually, we need $650,000 for routine upkeep. In the new financial year, we will also be incurring one-off expenses of about $600,000 to carry out building repairs like treating seepage and replacing power supply equipment. At the time of writing, the Fund’s balance stands at S$420,000.
We humbly seek your help. May the Lord move your hearts to join in preserving SBC’s buildings and spaces and upholding the mission to glorify God by training faithful servants of Jesus Christ to edify the body of Christ and to make disciples of all nations.
May God bless you personally for your generosity! All glory be to God!
