Annually, SBC provides scholarships amounting to S$600,000, a sum that is growing along with living costs in Singapore. These scholarships enable students who need financial support to become theologically equipped and respond to God’s call to serve his people through ministry, music, and counselling.
An international student’s financial needs while studying at SBC include tuition, accommodation, and food fees, as well as living expenses. SBC encourages a tripartite seminary–donor–student partnership to support these needs. Students can rely on personal savings and support from their family, friends, and sending church or organisation for accommodation and food fees. Those enrolled in the field education programme can use the church’s monthly love gift to help with living expenses. The SBC scholarship will then cover tuition fees.
Students can apply for SBC’s Food Fees Aid to ease their financial burden. SBC also offers a one-year ‘start-up’ scholarship for successful applicants from more financially challenged nations. This scholarship covers tuition and accommodation fees. Further, full-time Singaporean students aged 50 and below with dependent children are eligible for a monthly support token. These forms of financial support give students ease of mind to focus on their training.
SBC has only been able to take care of the physical, emotional and spiritual health of our students thanks to the partnership with our donors. One student was unable to raise enough for living expenses by the time he arrived at SBC. During the month before meals were prepared for residential students, the pale and thin student survived on a single bag of rice. However, with the support of the SBC scholarship, he went on to complete three years of full-time studies. He even gained weight and became healthier. Today, he is ordained and serves as a pastor in his home country.
Another student struggled to secure enough funds. His brother-in-law, believing in his potential to bring blessings to their village through training, sold their family’s only ox to send him to SBC. Beginning from this sacrificial blessing, along with the SBC scholarship, the student was able to complete his training. He is now actively sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in his hometown.
About 50 percent of each intake requires scholarship assistance. Your donation will go a long way to equipping these students. Please consider prayerfully your financial support. May the Lord bless you through your generous and cheerful giving to our partnership that advances his kingdom work on earth!
